–What might be the preferred entry-level certification?
To attempt CCNA Certificate, one must first obtain passing score one of the following exams conducted by CISCO:
- The ICND1 Exam (100-101) and the ICND2 Exam (200-101)
- The combined CCNA Exam (200-120)
–Who is in charge of the test? Is it specific to a vendor?
The certification program is owned by Cisco Systems, Inc. Cisco System is the only vendor for the certification.
–What is the form of the test (multiple choice etc.)
According to CISCO website (“Cisco Certification Exam Tutorial – Cisco,”) the following 7 types of questions should be expected at a CCNA exam:
- Multiple choice multiple answers
- Multiple choice single answer
- Drag and drop
- Fill in the blanks
- Testlet
- Simlet
- Simulations
–Does a Marymount course cover the content?
Marymount course 16/SP A Computer Networking, Computer Networking covers some of the basics that are required for the certification. Further training will be required before an attempt at the certification.
–How much does it cost?
One attempt to obtain the certificate costs $295.
–Should you take it now or wait for an employer to require it?
All CISCO certificates including CCNA are better to obtain before joining a job as they increase the chance of getting a good job. But if one does not have this certificate and already is involved in a networking related job, it’s better to get CCNA certificate as it will increase future prospects dramatically.
