Though a temporary drop has been observed in the acceptance of PKI solutions, I believe that due to an increased number of handheld devices and personal identity security issues on these device when they go online, PKI will be playing an important role in the future of information security. PKI does protect reception and transmission of information with a combination of a certificate of authority, a registration authority, certificate directories, management protocols and other policies and procedures. This is a multifold security solution and the future killer App for PKI should include an evolved form of this multifold security solution.
