Has “Caveat Emptor” ever been enough?
The term “caveat Emptor” means ‘let the buyer beware’ and it basically holds a buyer responsible for the quality of his/her purchases. The concept fundamentally protects the sellers from being guilty of providing poor quality products/services unless it was guaranteed by the seller in warranty. According to me this concept is total out of use and now the focus has shifted to caveat venditor (meaning let the seller beware). The concept of caveat emptor is not enough as it is their right to be fully informed about the negatives and positives of anything that they intend to buy so that they can make the best decision given their budget. If the sellers follow caveat emptor the end result will be dissatisfied consumers and a loss in sales and profits.
