One difference between government and private contracts is how the money is funded. In private contracting the money comes from both of the private parties. In government contracting the taxpayers are paying for the products. This can backfire, as the taxayers are not deciding what company or contract to gamble on, and if the government makes a bad decision it could be a complete waste of money. Government contracting also has more strict rules, such as adhering to background checks, and staying drug-free.
