Total quality management is a great concept that we learned about in the first few weeks of class. In order for total quality management to be successful, all employees need to be involved. One great practice that TQM uses is decision making as a group. This gives many benefits to the organization enacting the TQM as each individual is able to give their input about anything. This promotes an open conversation which is more productive than people sheltering their opinions and having them go unsaid. This starts with the upper level and works it’s way down, so if those at the top of the chain are not practicing TQM it will not be successful as part of the foundation of the theory is broken. This affects my business life as I would love to start my own company. Learning about TQM really shows me how a successful business is run and opens my eyes to certain things I need to pay attention to and focus on while running a company.
