When doing research, what note taking techniques do you use? Why? Have you ever thought to use a different type? Why or why not?

When I am doing research, I like hand writing my notes. The reason I do this is because when I write with my hands and not type the format is whatever I want. I can take notes, draw pictures and diagrams, and do not have to worry about formatting. Also, writing things by hand helps me with the memorization process as I am making myself more familiar with the content. Sometimes I have tried taking notes on a computer because I can keep all my notes organized better there, however, I come across times where I would like to draw a visual and it is more difficult on the computer
