The future databases are anticipated to be more advanced than what we have at present. For example these databases would be able to support multiple computer languages. Though the base language would remain SQL.  The traditional scale-up database approach is reaching its end and the future databases would be based on scale-out technologies. Connectivity to cloud computing is on an increase. So will the focus of database application development increase on corresponding to the needs and requirements of cloud computing. Overall, the database application development approaches would become more and more data-centric.
