How are MRP and ERP similar? How do they differ?
The concept of MRP and ERP is based on the notion that both of these are important concepts to know in the area of production and operations management. But what is also important to consider in this arena is this notion of understanding that MRP pertains to the notion of material requirements planning and ERP then pertains to the notion of enterprise resource planning. Therefore, both of these concepts should be used to the full advantage I knowing what the firm is trying to work on, what sort of products, it needs to have, but also in doing that, looking at what fundamental or important resources it currently has and what more could be done to increase its overall production efficiency. Therefore, MRP in that regard makes it easier to look at the aggregation of the materials and so making the best use of them whereas ERP should be more concerned in bringing about a higher level of efficiency in the larger enterprise itself.
