How would you characterize Stihl’s competitive strategy?
How would you characterize Stihl’s competitive strategy? Should it be classified as a low-cost provider strategy? a differentiation strategy? a best-cost strategy? Also, has the company chosen to focus on a narrow piece of the market or does it appear to pursue a broad market approach? Explain your answer.
When first I looked at the description provided, I thought they have a differentiated strategy. I thought like that because the Stihl is the pioneer in the line of products they offer. But when I visited their website, I realized that they have adopted to best cost strategy as they provide you the list of their dealers and make sure that all these dealers comply to the best cost strategy of the company. You can get suggestions from the website about where to find a specific product and you can even reserve it at the sales place and then collect it later.
