Before reading this chapter, how did you define teamwork? How did this definition correspond to the definition outlined in this book?

Think about the team states described in this chapter. If you joined a new team, how long do you think it would take you to get a feel for those team states? Which states would you be able to gauge first? Which would take longer?

Before reading this chapter, I considered teamwork as a way to perform a task while supporting each one and having a common goal. I think that definition in the chapter do roughly corresponds to my own definition of teamwork. Both definitions stress on collective outcomes.

Some team states might be obvious early when the team starts to work. While others would take some time. For example team cohesion can observed from the initial meetings while mental models would take time to appear and be observable.
