What is the main difference between early twenty centuries immigrant adaptation and today’s new immigrants’ forms of assimilation? Discuss at least two main differences.
Adaptation in the early twenty centuries was a challenging task due to limited availability of social capital at that time. Today, United States is home to very large and diverse immigrant ethnic networks compared to it was in early 20th century. Moreover, the immigrant populations have got more opportunities to educate, because of the supportive environment that has been recently adjusted to accommodate second language students in majority of the schools. However, these opportunities were not available to majority of the immigrants back in early 20th century. The strong ethnic networks now are a source of more emotional and material supports for the new immigrants to solve their problems and help them easily adapt to the new culture.
