Teaching Hacking at Colleges

Teaching Hacking at Colleges

I believe schools should teach hacking techniques to their students to a certain extent. Most universities and colleges do offer many courses on computer related techniques such as coding, software development and hacking. Hacking is a major part in our society today, companies and federal agencies need good hackers to prevent threats by others. As schools continue to provide these courses they must keep in mind the curriculum they’re offering to students. In other words, courses that deal with a large quantity of hacking curriculum should provide students with fundamentals not so much of the hard core hacking techniques that lets say the CIA or FBI provide. Universities and colleges need to understand that providing classes like these without supervised curriculums could turn out very bad. For instance, a student can hack into the professors grading file and change grades for others and themselves.

I am a strong believer in these types of classes as I have also taken hacking and software development classes a few years back and it was very helpful in understanding certain information and using that information to manipulate things on my device. But I am also aware that hacking does come with consequences if it is taught to the wrong person. Institutions need to be aware of the risk at the end of it all, but also shouldn’t be afraid to introduce classes like these and teach students that are interested in pursuing jobs that deal with hacking. Hacking is just another skill people can put on their belts and take my word, in some instances it comes useful.
