As the case mentions, Alibaba is an international e-commerce community that offers different connectivity services from Chinese suppliers to foreign buyers. As China’s largest online marketplace, the web platform provides more than 5,000 products and services for domestic trade among business people. Their rapid revenue growth demonstrates the effectiveness of their business model. However, in order to increase more their revenues, certain markets within the served segments need improvement. If I were hired as their new consultant, I would make the following arrangements:
Because the products are sent from China, it takes the foreign customer to receive their product over a month. However, by implementing an annual paid-membership, picking and tracking their delivery company would be one of their privileges.
By increasing their advertisement on social media, it would not only bring more customers but also would allow sellers to gain better margins and sell at better prices.
As Alibaba’s participate in the partnership with millions of small business, a better protection system needs implementation. By upgrading the system, besides increasing customers and seller’s loyalty, it would protect them of fraud or fake products.
It is clear that Alibaba has identified its chance of success on the e-business, by adjusting some changes, the company will have better chances of growth.
