Uber Application
Slide 2
Introduction
Uber taxi service Application
Started in 2009
Became Popular in recent years
(Rempel, 2014)
Users order nearby taxi with the application
Considered as a replacement to traditional taxi companies
(many people argue that Uber is a replacement to the traditional taxi service. The next slides of the presentation will explain this)
Slide 3
Uber Innovation
Uber Application is based on GPS (Uber is based on the latest GPS technology and works with GPS maps to make a connection between a taxi driver and a customer )
GPS provides the information about the location of customer (User searches the application and is given the information about the taxis that are on Uber and in the nearby)
(Bischoff et al., 2015)
Nearest Taxi offers the service saving time and money
No taxi company involved, direct contact between customer and taxi driver (This process ignores any taxi service company)
Used in 60 countries & more than 350 cities worldwide
Slide 4 (How Uber Works)
Slide 5
The rising challenges for the traditional taxi service
Traditional taxi services cannot cover huge population (Uber is online and anyone on internet using Uber application is a potential customer. Customers also use their Uber experiences online on social networks which is a free online publicity)
Uber easy, quick and efficient compared to traditional taxi services
Internet has intensified the competition (Bakos and Brynjolfsson, 2000)
Traditional taxi has intermediate taxi companies (to order a taxi throught traditional service, you have to call a taxi service company, who then contact the taxi driver and he/she reaches to you)
Uber is direct contact between customer and taxi driver
Slide 5
High level of competition
Competition between traditional methods and Uber is mixed (in different countries of the world, the competition is different)
In developing countries like Asia and Africa,
Traditional methods are ahead
In developed, western countries Uber is ahead
Success of Uber is dependent on
Telecommunication Technology advancement (as more and more countries are under GPS map networks, Uber has a better chance of success)
Slide 7
Involvement of the quality
People are looking for quality service (O’Neill and Palmer, 2004).
Traditional taxi service are troublesome in deciding taxi fares (you have to argue with the taxi driver about the travel charges)
Uber calculates fares by distance covered hence no conflict (Uber calculates the distance travelled and its travel charges and deducts money from customers credit card)
Traditional Taxi companies demand extra money to get taxi drivers in touch with customers (taxi drivers face problems when they have to make a deal with the traditional taxi driver companies who send customers towards them as the customers call the companies to ask for taxi)
In Uber world, taxi driver is not dependent on others
Customers are also in control of the hiring process
Slide 8
Uber’s Future
Uber’s Future is bright as telecommunication industry is rapidly advancing
More and more people have Smart Phones
Uber reaching more and more countries and cities
The company is having the resources of more than $17 billion (the company have enough finances to invest in new countries and develop innovative application and technologies to serve the customers better)
Uber introducing more and more innovation to their services
Slide 9
