Do you believe that a business owner should take a utilitarian approach to making day to day business decisions? Why or why not?

I think for the most part that a business owner should use utilitarian concepts. If you are doing the most amount of good for the most amount of people it is good for the business. This is especially the case when it is a small business we are talking about, because you need to focus on keeping the clients you already have. If you do what is best in only your interest you could turn away future customers, and if you help the customers too much, it could hurt your business.

When it comes to making decisions, sometimes is challenging to not think about yourself, especially when it comes to business decisions. However, as a business owner, you should prioritize your clients, employees, and what is good for the business to keep growing. I personally believe that a business owner should take a utilitarian approach to a business decision, if it would affect others. For example, if a small business is growing and decides to move to a bigger location, the business owner should consider the consequences that could happen to the business. What if the commute is difficult for the employees? What if the you lose customers because the new location is too far and inconvenient? Moreover, the utilitarian approach to this business decision would be to simply try to expand your business in the same location.
